And today's topic we will explore together is What is Human Resources?

What is Human Resources?

1/ Human Resources deals with the management of a company's employees.

Deal with là một cụm động từ (phrasal verb) được sử dụng khá thường xuyên trong văn nói cũng như văn viết. Có nghĩa bàn về cái gì, đề cập đến vấn đề gì

2/ HR includes hiring, training, employee development, pay and benefits.

Cách sử dụng Include:

- Include thường dùng để liệt kê (bao gồm những thứ gì).

- Include in là Preposition Verb có nghĩa là động từ phải có một giới từ xác định đi kèm sau

- Include đi với giới từ "in": Include someone in (something)

- Cấu trúc thường dùng: S + Include + Ving…/ S + Include + to Vinf…

- “talk to” mô tả việc gửi thông điệp đến ai đó một cách chủ động và mong muốn sự lắng nghe từ người đó.

- “talk with” mô tả việc gửi thông điệp đến ai đó một cách bình đẳng, không mang tính chủ động, không mang tính áp đảo, không cần câu trả lời.

4/ The responsibilities of HR include preparing or updating employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating.

5/ Recruiting is the process of attracting, finding and selecting new employees. Recruiters must match qualified people with the right jobs through screening & interviews. Rather than hiring experienced employees on hight salaries, we prefer to recruit and train young college graduates.

6/ A job description lists the tasks, responsibilities and qualifications of a job. You should read the job description carefully before your interview, so you can match your skills to the position.

7/ Compensation: The money a company pays its employees, in salary, wages or bonus, is called compensation.

8/ Benefits may include vacation time, insurance plans & pensions plans.

9/ Incentives are usually tied to specific performance goals, such as meeting a sales target. Incentives may include financial bonuses, company funded trips or conferences. 

What are the Human Resources functions?

1/ Recruitment & Selection / Tuyển dụng và Lựa chọn

Recruitment is the process of acquiring a pool of candidates with the desired knowledge, skills, attributes and experience so you can select the right person who will assist your business to achieve its goals.

Selection is the process of interviews, reference checking and testing or assessment that assists you to ensure the best person is appointed; using effective, fair and equitable practices.

2/ Performance management / Quản lý thành tích

Performance management is a corporate management tool that helps managers monitor and evaluate employees' work. 

Performance management's goal is to create an environment where people can perform to the best of their abilities to produce the highest-quality work most efficiently and effectively.

3/ Learning & Development / Đào tạo và Phát triển

Learning and development is a systematic process to enhance an employee’s skills, knowledge, and competency, resulting in better performance in a work setting. Specifically, learning is concerned with the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Development is the broadening and deepening of knowledge in line with one’s development goals.

The goal of learning and development is to develop or change the behavior of individuals or groups for the better, sharing knowledge and insights that enable them to do their work better, or cultivate attitudes that help them perform better

4/ Compensation and Benefits / Lương thưởng và Phúc lợi

Compensation and benefits (C&B) is a sub-discipline of human resources, focused on employee compensation and benefits policy-making. While compensation and benefits are tangible, there are intangible rewards such as recognition, work-life and development. Combined, these are referred to as total rewards. The term "compensation and benefits" refers to the discipline as well as the rewards themselves.

5/ Talent Management/ Quản lý tài năng

Talent management is the full scope of HR processes to attract, develop, motivate and retain high-performing employees. Talent management helps you maximize the value of employees. By hiring and developing talented employees, your organization becomes stronger and better prepared to face changes and risks.

6/ Human Resource Strategy / Chiến lược Nhân sự

Planning and the development of an HR strategy is a critical part of the HR process.  It is important that all HR processes and initiatives are developed as part of an overall people strategy which is aligned with, and designed to assist in the achievement of, the organisational strategy and goals.

A key part of the HR planning role is the development of a workforce plan.  This plan is a design for the organisation to attract, retain and develop the workforce required in order to the meet its present and future needs.

Human Resource Strategy is a designation for long-term plan created to achieve objectives in the field of human resource and human capital management and development in the organization.

7/ Oganization Culture / Văn hóa doanh nghiệp

Organizational culture is the collection of values, expectations, and practices that guide and inform the actions of all team members. Think of it as the collection of traits that make your company what it is. 

A great culture exemplifies positive traits that lead to improved performance, while a dysfunctional company culture brings out qualities that can hinder even the most successful organizations.
